The sunset tonight

A few pictures of the setting sun this evening.

After the storm

The torrential rain and gale force winds of last night finally eased by mid morning today, giving rise to some hint of blue sky this afternoon. Here, dark clouds looking down Calle Salada.
Four or five vultures were taking advantage of the thermals before returning to their resting place on the Peñón de Zaframagón pictured below.....
.....at just over 10 kilometres distance to the west of Olvera as the vulture flies!.

Views southwest towards the 1041 metre peak of the Sierra de Lijar, a mecca for hang gliders and paragliders and a perfect area for walkers to enjoy the natural habitat and birds of the area. A link to a walking blog here  shows some of the spectacular scenery.

The outstretched arms of the "Monumento al Sagrado Corazón" at the top of the park area in the Plaza de Andalucia.
 Looking to the north.
The skies to the east and below looking up Calle Mercado.

A strong breeze blows the flags outside the School of Music and Dance building on Calle Llana, pictured below.

A final view to the southeast from our roof terrace.

A hint of blue......

......in an otherwise grey, leaden sky as the temperature drops to 7°C and the daily rain continues to fall.
Taking advantage of a break in the weather for a stroll this afternoon.

The Christmas lights being taken down on Calle Llana here and below.

Just a brief glimpse of the sun that according to the forecast we might not see much of over the next few days.

Tuesday 14 January 2014

Grey and overcast........

.......but still warmish for the time of year at about 12°C. Here, Calle Carmona and below Calle Pulido.

On Calle Vereda Ancha and below the view of low cloud blanketing the Sierra de Grazalema in the distance.

Looking up to Vereda Ancha and the peñóns of Sagrado Corazón and the park area of Cerretillo.
The umbrella crop is doing well this year!.
Calle Teresa de León and below Calle Albéniz.

Work continues on the new recreation area in Avenida Diputación.
Avenida Julián Besteiro here and below.

Calle Bruselas just past which is the Plaza de Europa, a great vantage point for views of Olvera pictured below.

Overcast......

.....but still fairly warm at about 14°C this afternoon.
The mild weather is awakening some early flowers.

For a short while, Calcetines' grandmother joined us on our walk.
Calle Bellavista here and below.

Ever get the feeling you're being watched.

Looking down Calle Victoria.
New flags depict the official status of the newly designated "Municipal School of Music and Dance" on Calle Llana.
